TAIPEI -- A union of flight attendants in Taiwan Thursday went on strike against local airliner EVA Air after the two sides failed to agree on per diem allowance and discriminatory treatments for union and non-union employees.
Several flights that were scheduled to fly between the island and the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and other countries, have been canceled, according to the airline's website.
An emergency team has been set up by the airline to help reduce the impact on passengers. The island's aviation authorities said airport terminals have also activated response mechanisms.
