The students' enthusiasm deeply impressed Professor Guo, the judge of the contest. "The contest this year shows a big difference from previous ones. The contestants now are more interested in world affairs and the role China should play in the international community. They have broader perspectives and are more passionate in dealing with common challenges the whole universe is facing, and their views are more diversified," Guo said.

Professor He, director of the College of Liberal Arts & Law, said that the competition was not just a test of students' English capability, but also an expression of students' patriotism and global horizon. Keeping track of both world and Chinese affairs and maintaining an open mind without losing interest in traditional Chinese culture in the era of globalization are priorities in higher education, especially for liberal arts  students.

The contestants' passion for traditional Chinese culture is the epitome of all college students' reflection on Chinese culture in China. They grew up in a prosperous and dynamic society with unlimited potential built by the older generations. Soon or later, they will take over their causes and reshape this great country based on their perspectives and values, and their speeches can be regarded as their declaration of building a better China in the future.
