Over the moon: 欣喜若狂

中秋賞月，不妨向友人講述幾個(gè)“月亮”詞匯。還記得否？早先談過的blue moon（藍(lán)月亮）指“罕見、不常發(fā)生的事”，今天的over the
moon（在月亮上）則是指“欣喜若狂”。
Over the moon源于一首歡快的兒歌：“Hey, diddle, diddle/The cat and the fiddle/The cow
jumped over the moon/The little dog laughed/To see such sport/And the dish ran
away with the spoon.”（嘿，快搖、快搖/貓咪和小提琴/母牛跳過月亮/小狗看到哈哈笑/碟子帶著湯勺不見了。）
兒歌雖然毫無意義，但是兒歌中的over the moon倒被大人采用，用來形容“興高采烈”。到了上世紀(jì)70年代，over the
moon常用語體育賽事，指贏得比賽后大家“欣喜若狂”。如：The whole team is over the moon at winning the
competition.（全隊(duì)因贏得這場(chǎng)比賽而歡呼雀躍。）
