11月1日，廣州市的公共汽車上均掛有免費(fèi)乘車的提示牌。從當(dāng)日起，在亞運(yùn)會(huì)及亞殘運(yùn)會(huì)機(jī)動(dòng)車單雙號(hào)限行的30個(gè)工作日里，廣州公共交通服務(wù)免費(fèi)。

亞運(yùn)會(huì)期間廣州乘車免費(fèi)：據(jù)《廣州日?qǐng)?bào)》本周一報(bào)道，在亞運(yùn)會(huì)以及亞殘運(yùn)會(huì)期間，廣東省廣州市的部分公共交通將免費(fèi)供人們使用。
文中的free ride就是指“免費(fèi)乘車”。除了傳統(tǒng)的公交、地鐵等交通方式外，此次免費(fèi)開放的還有waterbus（水上巴士、輪渡），但airport express（機(jī)場(chǎng)快線）、Zhujiang River tour routes（珠江游）、bus routes connecting downtown and suburban areas（市區(qū)與郊區(qū)之間的公路客運(yùn)班線）等線路不實(shí)行免費(fèi)措施。
平時(shí)我們一說(shuō)free ride，首先想到的是“搭便車”，還可以用hitchhike或者give someone a lift/ride來(lái)表示。在國(guó)外，如果你想在路上享受free ride，那就要在路邊等車時(shí)沖著司機(jī)thumb up（豎起大拇指），因此“搭便車”也可叫thumbing up a ride，“搭便車的旅行者”則稱為hitchhiker。
