The Russian government has called on all warring parties around the world to observe the Olympic truce during the Winter Olympic Games.
俄羅斯政府呼吁全球沖突各方在冬季奧運(yùn)會(huì)期間遵循“奧林匹克休戰(zhàn)”傳統(tǒng)。
Olympic Truce（奧林匹克休戰(zhàn)）是國(guó)際奧委會(huì)（International Olympic Committee）根據(jù)古希臘（ancient Greece）共和國(guó)奧運(yùn)會(huì)神圣休戰(zhàn)的做法設(shè)計(jì)的一項(xiàng)國(guó)際和平活動(dòng)。在古代希臘，奧運(yùn)會(huì)期間，各交戰(zhàn)城邦之間必須停戰(zhàn)，以便各地的運(yùn)動(dòng)員參加比賽，各地觀眾也能前往觀看。
奧林匹克停戰(zhàn)活動(dòng)的目的在于：發(fā)動(dòng)年輕人宣揚(yáng)奧林匹克理想（Mobilize youth for the promotion of the Olympic ideals），通過(guò)體育運(yùn)動(dòng)為沖突各方建立聯(lián)系（Use sport to establish contacts between communities in conflict），為正在處于戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)中的國(guó)家提供人道主義援助（Offer humanitarian support in countries at war），提供對(duì)話及和解的機(jī)會(huì)（Create a window of opportunities for dialogue and reconciliation）。
