Editor's note: Recent stories involving "screaming babies" on a long-haul fligh have stirred up some discussions. A mother and her nine month old baby were flying first class. Soon after take off, her baby started crying loudly and other passengers complained to air stewardesses about the noise soon after. Is it selfish to take a child on a long-haul flight? China Daily readers share their opinions.

Motika (Sweden)

I believe a mother should be able to take along her infant, no matter what passenger class she is flying. However, as a passenger she is also responsible for her infant and how or when this child might affect other passengers. It is simple to speak to a pediatrician about taking an infant along on a trip, and especially when that child is prone to crankiness. There are medications available that will keep the child in a more subdued state without any adverse effects.
