Serbia to intensify mutual cooperation

President Xi Jinping on Friday called for China and Serbia to carry forward their ironclad friendship, expand mutually beneficial cooperation and advance the building of a high-quality China-Serbia community with a shared future.

Xi made the remarks during a meeting with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic. He said that amid the rapidly evolving global landscape and mounting risks and challenges, both countries should maintain strategic resolve and concentrate on managing their own affairs well.

China is ready to enhance strategic communication with Serbia, intensify mutual support and strengthen trade and investment cooperation, he said, adding that Beijing will continue to support construction and operation of relevant projects, and leverage their demonstrative effects to achieve more win-win outcomes.

Xi stressed that 80 years ago, the peoples of China and Serbia made important contributions to the victory in the World Anti-Fascist War. He said that China is willing to work in solidarity with countries from around the world, including Serbia, to collaboratively address challenges, and uphold world peace and international fairness and justice.

Vucic acknowledged China as Serbia's most treasured friend, highlighting China's selfless support and assistance in facilitating Serbia's economic development and improving people's livelihoods. He reaffirmed Serbia's unwavering commitment to the one-China principle, recognizing Taiwan as an inseparable part of China's territory.

While expressing the willingness to expand bilateral cooperation, Vucic said that Serbia appreciates China for its steadfast advocacy for multilateralism. China's visions and actions have bolstered the courage and confidence of the international community in safeguarding common interests, he added.
